Description
This course addresses the musculoskeletal development of the young horse, with special emphasis on critical growth stages, conformation control, and the prevention of orthopedic problems. It analyzes the main physiological processes involved in bone and muscle maturation, along with the influence of exercise, nutrition, and environment on the animal's conformation and future functionality. Through real-life case studies and longitudinal studies, methodologies for growth monitoring, allometric curve assessment, body weight estimation, and early detection of limb deviations are explored. Furthermore, practical strategies are presented for timely intervention, health management, and the design of individualized plans that promote proper structural development in foals.
