Description

This course offers a practical overview of biosecurity in horse management, integrating preventative health measures with best management practices aimed at protecting animal health, human safety, and the environment. Throughout the course, the main biological, physical, and chemical risks present in equine production systems will be addressed, as well as everyday situations related to feeding, handling, housing, work, and general care that can affect welfare and increase the likelihood of injury, disease, or production inefficiencies. Furthermore, basic criteria will be presented for recognizing risky practices and implementing preventative measures that promote safer, more organized, and responsible management within the farm.
