Description
This course provides a comprehensive understanding of the growth stages in equine breeding and rearing. Key aspects are addressed, such as specific nutritional requirements, the maturation of the locomotor system, and the factors that influence the health and future performance of foals, as well as the differences between intensive and extensive systems.
In addition, management criteria will be reviewed to promote balanced nutrition, appropriate exercise for each stage, and the prevention of developmental orthopedic diseases. Weaning planning will also be covered, considering its impact on welfare, gradual adaptation, and socialization. Through case studies and scientific evidence, participants will integrate knowledge applicable to the training of horses with athletic and commercial potential, taking into account the animal's productive or sporting purpose.
