Description
This course provides a comprehensive understanding of the stages of growth and development of horses from gestation to breeding. Key aspects are covered, such as the management of pregnant and lactating mares, nutrition at each stage of growth, musculoskeletal development, and the factors that influence the health and future performance of horses. Management strategies for the prevention of developmental orthopedic diseases will also be explored, the impact of exercise on bone and joint health will be analyzed, and the differences between intensive and extensive breeding systems will be discussed.
Aspects of how to optimize the nutrition, exercise, and well-being of foals will also be reviewed, as well as techniques for preventing developmental orthopedic diseases. Through case studies and scientific evidence, participants will be able to apply practical knowledge for the effective breeding of horses with athletic and commercial potential.
